LjHA are delighted to introduce the newest member of staff to join the Operations team, Malik Ahmad.

Malik was appointed to the role of Housing Officer in September, having recently moved back to his hometown of Leeds.

‘I have previously worked for East Thames Housing, in Stratford, looking after a diverse tenant portfolio and am looking forward to meeting the residents of LjHA community.’

The new role will support residents, taking into account the needs of both Tenants and LjHA.’ It is getting the right balance between knowing your tenants and running the business’ added Malik.

Malik will play a crucial role in the reformation of Resident Involvement Panels formerly Tenant Reps. This is where tenants who may wish to assist LjHA but not by attending formal meetings, can be involved in other ways. This may include writing articles for the Tenant Newsletter, proof reading documents or estate inspections. Even putting on an event, particularly for the younger tenants and bringing the community together.

Congratulations go to Zak Warren who has now completed his Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Business Studies affiliated with Skills CFA & Key Training.
He also acquired the Skillsfirst Award Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration (QCF). We decided to invest in an apprenticeship scheme in 2015, and with government funding available we thought it was the right time, said Danielle Firth, Corporate Services Manager.

‘Housing Associations need to move with the times, and that includes LjHA. Zak has played an integral part in this transition. We have listened to tenants and improved out PR and Corporate branding with a new website, online newsletter and redesigned the @HOME.’ With plans to add a facebook page and twitter account in the near future. On completion of his apprenticeship Zak was taken on as a full time staff member, and will continue to tend to the social media.
